One Way to Positively Manage ADHD and ADD
Learning that we have ADHD can invoke a variety of responses like as shock, horror, or fear.
But it can also be a great moment when we realize exactly why we are different from other people, and that it bestows unique gifts.
Many people with ADHD have a special ability to think outside the box and come up with ideas that others haven’t thought of.
Just accepting that that’s the way things are will bring a sense of peace. You’ll know what you’re dealing with and can get on with it.
Accepting that we have ADHD may take time and a little getting used to. That’s ok. Be patient.
One way to keep ADHD and ADD from bringing you down is to follow the example of someone you admire. That might be someone in the family, someone at work who you respect, a friend who knows and accepts you. It might be someone famous who sets a good example but it doesn’t have to be.
When I search the internet I find lots and lots of famous people who have used their ADHD in a positive way, or have found ways to compensate when necessary.
For example …
Emma Watson, child star of the Harry Potter series who has continued success as an adult. Not only does she a talented actress, she is also a UN Ambassador promoting education for women, especially in Uruguay and Bangladesh. Her ADHD was identified when she was a child.
Richard Branson also has ADHD and he founded Virgin Airlines, and has been honoured by the United Nations for his environmental and humanitarian works. So not only is he a highly successful businessman, he is also an altruistic citizen.
